Sci fi and fantasy fandom has long been a cult movement, though definitely the good type with millions of fans obsessing over and celebrating the genre works they love and not the bad type that has sadly reared its ugly head in politics of late. There are many different factions of sci fi and fantasy cultdom, some focusing on particular movies and/or TV shows, some focusing on different mediums, and some celebrating all aspects of the genre. We at Cult Sci Fi like to consider ourselves part of the latter group, but we have our own favorites as well. And at this site, we will try to focus on movies, TV shows, books, and more that may not be as well known or that have slipped off the radar. Everybody knows about Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and more of the popular franchises, so we will try to give some attention to properties that aren’t as well recognized (while also giving some coverage of the bigger names from time to time).
Our main goal is to celebrate sci fi and fantasy and hopefully enlighten you on a few movies, TV shows, books, and more that you may not have heard about or that you forgot existed. And while we are not necessarily giving in-depth coverage (though we may add some of that at some point), we will highlight various genre entries and point out what they have to offer. If you have a particular property you would like to see covered, let us know. And if you would like to do your own post on a genre entry, write it up and send it to us (though take note of the general format that we follow). We hope to cover a wide range of sci fi and fantasy properties and topics, and we also hope to generate some good conversation.
